Hurricanes Katrina, Rita and Wilma all have that kind of destructive power, but they’re not all the same.
Hurricane Tomcat is different.
In 2005, it caused the deaths of thousands of people in the Caribbean and Southeast Asia.
Its destructive power is so strong that it caused its own island to collapse.
When Hurricane Harvey made landfall in Texas in August, the storm left behind a trail of destruction, killing over 3,000 people.
A new Tomcat report, called Hurricane TomCat: The Next Generation, provides the latest analysis of what is known about the new monster.
We spoke to Tomcat’s director of science, Dan Cushman, and climate scientist Michael Mann to learn more about Tomcat and what makes it so special.

Tomcat quickly swelled into a Category 5 hurricane, the strongest storm ever to hit the Gulf Coast.
In 2006, Tom Cat killed more than 100 people and left thousands more homeless.
By the end of that year, TomCat was on track to be a Category 6 hurricane, which means it would be the strongest hurricane in recorded history.
Hurricane Wilma devastated parts of Africa and Southeast Europe in 2005.
By 2010, it had weakened to a Category 3 hurricane.
Hurricane Harvey began as Hurricane Rita, which had been a Category 1 hurricane at the time.
Hurricane Rita became a Category 4 hurricane in the spring of 2018.
Tomcats eye was already in a Category 2 hurricane when Wilma began to move in.
Hurricane Patricia struck Mexico in September 2016, killing more than 1,000, according to the National Hurricane Center.
Hurricane Matthew hit the U.S. in late October, killing at least 10 people and causing nearly $100 billion in damages.
The Tomcat team thinks Tomcat will make landfall somewhere between 20 and 25 million strong, but the team doesn’t know where.

In addition to its destructive power in the Atlantic, Tom Cats eye can reach the Caribbean islands of Barbuda, Saint Martin, St. Lucia, Saint Barthelemy, St Helena, Saint Lucia, Martinique, Guadeloupe, Martin Van Buren, St Martin and Dominica.
Tom Cat has also been called the strongest tropical storm in the world.
In terms of size, Tom is the largest hurricane on the ocean, but its winds and rain can still blow over the Atlantic.
Tom’s eye is also a powerful hurricane, with a Category 10 storm surge.
What are Tomcats strengths?
Tom Cats strongest winds are estimated to be at 100 knots (220 miles per hour), making it the strongest cyclone in the western Pacific Ocean.
Hurricane winds have a wind speed of 120 mph (200 kph), which makes it a dangerous storm for any building in its path.
Tom has the most powerful winds in the eastern Atlantic, where it has a wind gust of 200 kph (120 mph).
The strongest hurricane to hit in the Western Hemisphere has been Hurricane Wilmar, which struck the United States in September 2008.
Wilmar’s wind speeds reached as high as 400 kph, which is the strongest winds recorded for the eastern United States.
